Best body shop to fix a Sprinter Van in Dallas TX
If you have a Sprinter van for your business or a sprinter van based RV and you have some collision repair damage, you may be surprised to learn that your Sprinter can’t be fixed at your local auto body shop. Why is that?
The reason is that Sprinter vans do not fit into most auto body paint booths.
The Sprinter, is a workhorse of a truck manufactured by Mercedes Benz and sold as a Dodge. The maintenance costs for these vehicles is slightly higher than comparable vehicles like the Ford Transit, but it often makes up for it with their reliability and long term service.
But these models are not without problems. Two of the biggest complaints are leaking roof top air conditioners and rusting paint. The air conditioner issue even has a class action lawsuit files in South Florida. The complaint s that even in dry conditions the seal from the AC unit to the roof is compromised at the factory, and there are inherent drainage issues for the condensation.
The rust problems are even more complex. Search any of the forums and you will find pot after post of customers who he rust issues with their Sprinter vans. Many factors are to blame here. It has been noted that the bodies were not properly coated at the Mercedes Benz factory. Others claim that the paint has not clearcoat whatsoever. Forum after forum reports significant rusting to the window channels, and roof rails. Even here in Dallas Texas we have seen those issues.
Due to the height of these vehicles and their wheelbase, they will not fit into most auto body repair shops paint booths. Your choices are to either have a body shop paint it in the prep area (which we do not recommend), have it painted at a commercial truck repair shop where you may not get the highest quality paint job, or you can take it to a shop like ours here in Dallas where all we do is repair RV’s and sprinter vans.
